Default Planning any roads trips for 2021?

Any long trips planned for 2021?

Thinking of going on a trip of about 1000 miles or so, heading up North from NY in my 72. Screw COVID. Since I installed the Tremec 5 speed it opened up a new world to me for travel with this car… Far from my first GTO, but back in the days when I did have my first 68 and then a 70, traffic wasn’t moving along at a steady 80 mph and faster like it does today….

My 72 is stock low compression 400 with a 5 speed and 3.55 rear. It’s a 100% numbers matching car, but it turning into a resto mod…. (Nothing that can’t be reversed, no parts lost). Its running well enough to be a daily driver. More of concern leaving it places possibly unattended then any mechanical issues. Can’t replace these cars at the drop of hat like a run of the mill SUV….

Took a trip to upstate New York a few months ago, about 500 miles… Was a total blast, open roads and great scenery….

Anyone else think / planning a road trip??

Amazing how the overdrives completely transform the car and the driving experience isn't it?

We usually do a few road trips a year, the beer virus hasn't stopped us from doing that. None of them are ever set in stone but one I look forward to doing every year, twice a year, is cruising Rt 66 and visiting all the little towns.

I have signed up for the GTOAA Nationals in Wisconsin - 2072 miles if I drive straight there.

I've been thinking of taking my 71 to NYC to check out the new World Trade Center, and the 9/11 memorials. That's about 500 miles round trip, about 8 hours of driving total. Not bad at all.

I really want to drive the 71 to the southern most tip of Key West, but idk if that'll happen. That's about 1700 miles one way, about 28 hours of driving.

Thinking about attending the GTOAA meet too. But I'll be towing a travel trailer instead of a race car like OMT.

Yeah, nyc isn't fun to navigate, but I think it'll be fun.

Maybe try and get a table at Raos, although that'll never happen lol

I would agree with 11thIndian.
At the very least, please leave the classic behind if you want to see the Freedom tower and 9/11 memorial. How would you ever be able to relax while walking around?! I'm an optimist, but anytime I take a vehicle into the city from NJ, I
take out everything from the car I can't live without.

Things are definitely stressed in the city these days.

You guys gotta live a little.

I'm not worried about my personal protection, I have that covered. The car will be safe in a (somewhat) secure garage, and I get to explore this great country of ours.

If I can't venture 4 hours from home, what will I do 30 hours from home?
