ADDCO 857 bar
Just installed the ADDCO 857 front bar. What a positive difference! Need some HD shocks now. I put the pie-plate wheelcovers back on while I'm waiting for my Rallys to be painted.

Nice clean underside. There's nothing like a clean California metal. Is the bar hollow or solid? How much thicker than stock and are those polyurethane bushings? Lots of questions!

It's solid, 1 1/8 inch diameter and comes with new poly bushings, frame brackets and end links with poly bushings. California is nice for sheetmetal .The California smog was rough on the rubber bushings. Every time I'm around this car, I just can't get over how sweet it is!
I'm going to order the RARE rear sway bar/control arms kit and some heavy duty shocks. |

rear bar
Finally got the rear bar and arms. They look good and I'm sure will improve the handling and general feel of the wagon. The original bushings are wasted. I'm doing axle bearings /seals and wheel cylinders to be sure.

Looks good. What type of bushings do they come with?

the new arms have poly bushings. I have to provide the two that have to be hammered into the top of the axle housing.

rear bar
rear bar and arms installed. The bar seems like its pretty low down. I found that the factory rear lower arms are same as A-body. If I had to do it again, I think I would buy a 71-6 factory rear bar and just press some poly bushings into the stock arms. Hindsight! This thing should handle alot better.

Won't the bar sit closer to the housing with the wheels on? Probably normal for it to be sitting lower if the suspension is hanging down. There was a factory bar for sale on here a while back. It would be good to compare if the dip depth is the same.

there is a '69 Cat 428 wagon on ebay right now that someone has installed a rear 71-6 bar on, check the pic on the auction page. I think it fits closer than this one.

Saw the one on eBay. The shape is different and it bolts to the underside of the control arms instead of the sides. I contacted the seller and he said it was a factory HD option.

update
Well, the wheels finally came back, I got new P255/70R15 BFG Radial T/A tires and I installed a new M&H engine harness and a new K65 Alternator with internal regulator. The car originally came with the 55amp externally regulated unit but when I ordered the new harness, I upgraded to internal regulator style. I built a brand new 70 amp alternator with all new components and correct '69 housings.
The car handles as well as a stock 70 GTO. Both those big bars do their job! I put new ACDelco shocks on the car but I think Bilsteins would improve the handling slightly. |

Muscle wagon now. I run the same rims with tall tires and think it looks great with the 69 body style. Are you going to put the stainless trim rings on?

i personally think with the JY code rallyes (14 center w 15 wheel) they look alot better without the trim rings.

Yes, the car is a fantastic driver but the 30 foot Airstream I bought is too heavy.I put it on ebay. Thanks for the vote of confidence, Chris!
