Default Engine turned dash, Help needed

So I got my engine turned dash and console inserts and everything lines up EXCEPT the insert for the dash. It hangs over the dash at the bottom by at least an inch. Is this by design? Am I supposed to trim this? and how can I get a clean straight line if I need to trim it? Pics below.

I'm sure you have to trim it. You realize that's not a factory decal right?
That's not supposed to be there.

It looks like they used the original woodgrain applique as a template for this custom piece you have. The woodgrain wraps under the lower part of the bezel, if this part you have doesn't bend you'll have to cut it to fit.

It would be nice to have something that tells you that, some kind of instruction sheet? photos? something. Hopefully the tech support guys will see this and give me some direction?

You may get a faster response by calling Ames and asking for technical support.

Can you please PM me with your customer # or invoice #? The part number does show to be correct for all 70-72 except convertible.

Its actually a thin sheet of aluminum. It would be a much easier deal to rectify if it was vinyl but it would not be as nice a piece. And yes I know its not NOS, never owned an NOS car I like a bit of personalization.
