Thx John! Here's my updated graphic. I'm confident the "Q" is the final assembly month (from another web site).

Sounds plausible.
I think later years some had an actual date. (month/year maybe?)

More info
Here's the table that shows final assembly month codes for each model year (1966 model year November is code "Q"). There's also a reference to the transmission codes (FO for wide ratio/4-speed, and FT for close ratio/4-speed).

Protect-o-plate
The POP and build sheet associated with the restored '66 Tri Power Bonny on Ebay has helped confirm some of the previous POP assumptions.
First, the transmission code shown on the build sheet (FM) does match the POP lower-left character (FM). Secondly, the table shown in a previous post correctly predicted the final assembly code for a June produced car would be (G). The "Axle number" is shown on the build sheet as "1H". This code appears below the first and third character of the VIN (like the GTO "3S" did). The "2" shown on the bottom line of the POP appears on the build sheet in the 5th block of the "Options" section. This breakdown is still a mystery. The only other mystery is the "Engine Number" shown left of the "Axle Number" on the Build Sheet reads "WHG". The POP also shows "WHG". What does the "G" part of that mean?? |

I think the 2 on the Bonnie is for the AC
dunno what 6 might be on your GTO Do you have the PHS/BHC for the GTO ? Was it a seatbelt - delete car ? The G on the Bonnie is code for the Long Tail Housing (Big Car) M20 |

Using this for reference on the 2 - for the Bonnie code
AC was option 582 fwiw On the BHC there is an AC Box on the far left side - if car has option 582 AC - there is always a 2 in that AC box. Blank on Non-AC cars Last edited by Baron Von Zeppelin; 02-02-2021 at 03:25 PM. |

Protect-o-plate
Here's the GTO PHS Car Billing History. The only "6" on there is for the smog system. Most of the Chevy codes have been confirmed and it's basically a table that based on the option code position and the number, it corresponded to an option (see table).

Your 6 on the GTO P-o-P probably is the Smog
Would really need to find another P-o-P for a "616" car and compare . Each Pontiac Plant did their own P-o-P make up with Car ID Info, and then the selling dealer completed the Buyer ID Info. Variations from plant to plant |

I have a november build fremont car(11A) just a bit earlier than yours i think, z104203 and this also has a Q in the same spot on the protecto plate. Where yours has the number 6, mine have 4 and on the car billing history card it has the number 4 in the 61 box wich means 614 positive crankcase ventilation. I think maybe the automatic tripowercars didnt have smog pump, just a breather hose on the oil filler cap and into the airfilterbases on california cars. Where yours have FT mine says NA034, does anyone knows what that means

NA034 could be the Transmission Unit Number
Similar ID as the Engine Unit Number I don't know where this would be stamped on the T-300 casing though. Have never investigated any of them very closely. Thanks for sharing the info on your 3x2 Fremont Car & P-o-P data |

and what numbers are in the STATE : To & From boxes Just looking to see if it was sold new in California. You "could" order just 614 in other states as a selective option - not as a requirement. |

Hi
The zone/dealer was 23/107. It was sold at Doten Pontiac in Oakland to a guy that had a gas station there. I Think maybe it was a demo/showroom car cause it was build november 65 but delivered to the owner late may 1966 recording to the service manual. I have most of the history on the car. Also have the black/yellow license plates that it came with in the 60’s. There is no numbers in the "ship to" box |

I have 2 of them for 66 GTO
Both are Pontiac Plant though - the different format from all the rest of plants. Box 73 and Box 74 are a combo together (like tire codes, engine codes, etc) 73-3 is the Special Order Axle goes with 3.90 or 4.33 {3P or 3S} 73-1 is the general Safe-T-track {1K etc} 73 - _ is non-Posi {_G etc} The Buildsheet car was a TriPower #WS with 3.90 Posi #3P Last edited by Baron Von Zeppelin; 02-03-2021 at 05:13 PM. |

Great info for me also this, dont know how many hours i have used looking for information online, reading books and checking out all the numbers on the various parts on the car. I think its a great thing to this hobby when we cant drive our cars(long winters here in Norway).
You are right on the numbers it says 04 in both boxes Mine has 3 P after the EUN and motor/trans (YRJ) and it has a 3.90 posi rear with metalic brakes, ZK is stamped in the axle. |
