Default Sanden A/C compressor conversion

Has anyone replaced their original style A/C compressor with a Sanden unit? I went from the Harrison A-1 (?) to the aluminum S-1 and am still having problems. I went through three old style units before switching to the new style only to have two front bearing failures.
I am strongly considering the Sanden unit for the smaller size and the fact that it will give me access to the front right spark plug.

I also wonder whether the Sanden compressor would be up to the task since it's output is about half the original A6. The Sanden a great little unit and is all that is needed for a modern aftermarket system that is designed from scratch, but our old systems aren't nearly as efficient.
