Default Worked on the GT-37 Today (Pics and Video)

Just installed Pypes exhaust my son and I purchased from PY today (Christmas Day). We got the Street Pro all stainless steel system including stainless steel 1" Pypes band clamps. Wow does it sound good with the small Melling cam ( same as the Summit 2801 cam) in the stock 1975 low compression 400.Glad the weather was ok and warm enough to work on the GT-37 onChristmas Day.

Here are some pictures of the install and a video of what it sounds like.

Click on this picture for a video of the Pypes Street Pro Exhaust

Very nice! What size is that 2 1/2"? What mufflers did you choose? Need a system for my 70. Sounds nice! Was it easy to install? Did everything fit well? Thanks

Looks great. I have the same system on my 69 GTO and love the way it sounds. I am putting the same system on my 72 LeMans but with Race Pro mufflers. Cant wait to install it. Agian looks and sounds great. Its hard to keep the foot out of the throttle with that sound.

Since this current 400 is a low HP and low compression one, and the 1969 428 with #62 heads I will eventually build and install into this car I wanted to go with the Pypes 2 1/2" all stainless steel system. All mandrell bent pipes. I even polished the pipes, mufflers and band clamps before instaling them. Everything fit really nice. Pypes must have a good jig to fab these pipes up. Nice welds too. Took a couple hours on my back to install using mostly hand tools.

Thanks! I thought about the Race Pro but thought it may be a bit much for me.
I have not actually driven the car yet but can't wait to burn those old 14s off my Rally II wheels.

it fits right up to your factory manifolds? id like a system like that on my wagon, but probably not a direct fit...because of fuel tank placement...

Yep, I have the 3 stud manifolds and the 1/2" thick stainless steel flange that Pypes installed on the pipe worked fine. Darn flange looks like chrome too.

Nice installation! Comparing to the video you posted a few threads ago before you put on the new exhaust, it seems the car is a little quieter than before. At least the exhaust rumble is now routed to the rear of the car.

The classic "coffee can full of rocks" muscle car sound. Very impressive! Stainless steel pipes will last 4ever but they are loud! Good set of full size mufflers on there...lOoks like a high quality system.

The car does a bit quieter but has a nice hollow sound than before with turbo mufflers and no tail pipes. The "X" pipe seemed to also take some of the "cam" sound out of it too but I think it sounds way better now. Now if my 40 year old heater core was not leaking I would take this junker out for a ride.

put the same exhaust on my GT-37, except I went with Race Pro mufflers. Well, and I also have the two stud flange headpipes vs your three as I have log mani's. Sounds REAL good crossing the traps at 112+!!! :-)))) I found it a bit of a PITA to put on though.

No issues with the install other than I had to tighten up some clamps just to keep the "X" pipe together.
