Default 1970 pontiac block question

Are all the pontiac 1970 400 block part numbers 9799914 or 9799915 regardless of horsepower rating and vehicle application

Would the difference be whether it was for an automatic or manual? Or ???

914 is drilled for 4 bolt mains but 2 bolt


915...at least all ive ever seen is a 4 bolt main..there other guys that are much more qualified that will speak up

No.

The stamped code would basically be the difference.
(block the same, internal parts different)

The 915 as said, would be definitely 4 bolt main caps.
The WS/YZ 914 would be 4 bolt main caps for sure.

Most of the 914 blocks were drilled for 4 bolts caps but had 2 bolt caps.
