Default Build date(s)

I have NM engine in a 70 GTO with a C120(Mar 12,1970) build date. Would an intake/head combo with an A300(Jan,30 1970) be too early to be correct? Thanks, Roger

Should be fine Roger. What is the build date of the car on the cowl tag?

John, I'm presently ay work, but IIRC it's C30,but if this is different when I get home I will reply with correction. I have a chance to pickup some "correct heads" with A300, but was thinking this was a little too early. 6/7 years ago I sold my RA3 Judge, it was one of the earlier ones built in Jan,69, the 48's were K68. I always suspected them being too early.

Thanks, Peje.

Now from what I think Roger is asking is are the heads cast date too early for the block cast date?
(1.5 months earlier)

Most complete engines I have, the heads are closer in dates.
But mine are usually 70-73.

I guess that is a loaded question for many car parts that are factory dated.

By MY definition "Correct" is before the cast date of engine or build date on cowl.

That will varies by many factors to each build location and time in the engine plant IE strikes etc...

But, never seen a car with dated parts after build date on cowl that were considered to be OEM...

If now the question of "OEM" that is a the gray area, and CAN anyone say "for sure" without a complete photo documentation when the car was received?

I agree with Mike about the dates. Sometimes they are merely conjecture as to when they were assembled. They obviously need to be dated at least a week or two ahead of the car.

A friend recently bought an 01D built Fremont Judge all numbers matching and the heads were K268 or something like that.

I have a numbers matching 69 GTO WT car with a build date of 10E and the block is cast J168!! Talk about close...

Here's the build dates for my Pontiac built 72 GTO. My car came off the line March 1, 1972. Sorry, the spreadsheet is sideways.

That's about where most of mine run.
The heads are 1-2 days apart from the block.
(not 1-2 months apart)

My matching numbers (mostly) '68 is kind of spread out too. Engine was cast in August, '67, both heads in October, '67....but the car wasn't built until May of '68. Intake and water pump are not original as they are '69 castings. VIN and EUN match the PHS and the frame also matches the VIN.
Nine months...Anyone else have a spread as large as that?

Car build date 03C, Engine date C120. This a NM 400 Auto 70 GTO. All NM auto 400 70 GTO. John, you're correct. Heads(A300) would be about 1.5 months B4 engine(C120). Greg your information is interesting.
