I have one but some idiot painted it black. Has to be the worst paint job ever. He even left the decals on the car wen he painted it and then tried to do the bandit thing to it. Put new decals over the old ones and then got ahold of a can of gold spray paint. I think the whole car was rattle caned! I was planning on painting the cae black but have to admit the blue is growing on me. I can't waite when I get to have the fun of trying to remove two hood birds

Thanks, I've had 14 years,I'm the third owner, the interior is original except for the headliner and sound system.
The engine compartment has been altered abit,I'm running those nice aluminum cast valve covers that say pontiac on them, the engine has been completely de-smogged and slightly warmed over, but still retains it's cast bottom end,the entire drivetrain is match#,unfortunately I don't have a pic of the engine.

You show me......
YOURS........and I'll show you MINE!
Picked this one up about a year ago.....58K... mostly original paint....NOT rusty...still has the factory pancake catalytic on it... Got some detailing planned, but like "patina" it has & NOT going to get carried away.

That's a pretty one! I especially like the photo of the shaker scoop call outs that were slapped on at the factory on your creme puff.
Many today would say they were never made that way...and they'd be wrong. Nice survivor IMO. |

I think the Norwood shaker decal guy was an "artiste" & put them wherever he felt like? Van Nuys must have had shaker decal "cops" as the original ones I've seen are USUALLY in the right "same" spot.

When I was negotiating on this one (about 18 month ago) I found at least 20 other M-blue 78 T/A's for sale.......and they were ALL different...options,engines,interior colors, condition & price.... This one was optioned EXACTLY the way I would have ordered it 35 years ago....so I HAD to buy it.... Would be interesting if we could ever find out how many of each color were built....

Shaken, not stirred, Martini
Quote:
It was a customer special ordered and delivered to Shreveport LA dealer where it was rejected by original customer who ordered it due to poor color match of the nose & tail bumpers to body of the water based paint used in the Van Nuys California plant. The car was totally repainted at the dealership under warranty before the customer would accept delivery. There are still some telltale overspray marks from when it was repainted when new...including a slight tear in the hood bird. |

That's interesting on the paint not matching on the bumper......mine's got that going on & it's from the other plant....
Mine was also a "customer order" & was NOT built with a radio...... It has a Sanyo cassette deck in the dash & a power antenna in the left rear quarter panel, which were likely installed by the original owner... I was helping a buddy of mine work on HIS M-blue 78 T/A (which he has owned since 1981) last Sunday & guess what he gifted me? A near MINT KP-8500 Pioneer Supertuner which he installed in his 78 T/A 30 some years ago.....it was removed recently to make way for an original Delco AM/FM 40 channel CB. I'll be installing that one real quick!
