Thats what I'm getting at... that car may be the last 71 Judge built unless the convertible has a later vin. They were building alot of Judges at Pontiac Plant that week.

Thanks for clarifying that, Mark. so what is the build date on 133680? That very well could be the very last Judge built, period. Is 100105 a Lucerne car, one of the show cars built the first week? thanks

The Judge isn't anything I know much about, just curious. According to Eric White's book, the Judge option was discontinued on 2/15/71, is that correct?
I'm guessing any builds that took place AFTER that date must have been orders already entered prior to the announcement? As few as were built (less than 400 all told so average 65/month maybe?), gotta figure not many remained to be built after the announced discontinuance (and since few were being ordered, gotta believe very few folks shed any tears about it). Guessing 50-75 still to be built when the cancellation came? But unless PHS compiles the VINs for all of them, would be impossible to prove the highest VIN. Could be a dozen with higher VINs than the highest known VINs and half of those might have been junked long ago. How could you know unless some sort of VIN list exists? johnta1, P131352 seems to be the "newest" Convertible VIN from Steve's list. Do you have the VIN from a later one? The last convertible would be a lot easier to establish, far fewer, plus Fred Simmonds likely DID compile a VIN list for ALL of them, and they were all built at the Pontiac Plant, correct? Hardtops a different matter I would think. |

John, all A-body convertibles in 71 & 72 were built at the Pontiac plant.

71 Judge:
Met a guy back in the 80's that had a 71 Judge that was cardinal red and was supposed to be one of the first, if not the first 71 Judge built. It was a Pontiac engineering car.

Its been my belief for the last few years that the first '71 Judge built was indeed cardinal red. A longtime customer & local Pontiac dealer gave me some info on this Judge several years ago. It's body was actually built in June of '70, over 6 weeks before the Pontiac plant's run of a good sized cluster of 08C & 08D body built '71 Judge hardtops

100105 was Canyon Copper and Sienna. The shippers don't show build date.

Finally found a tiny piece of that famous video on youtube - it appears to me that the '71 was Lucy Blue. The '70 was silver.

Thanks Lloyd, I'm pretty sure all those first week show car Judges were Lucerne. Wonder if the test car was one of them? Mark, Oshawa-built shippers show production date. USA-built does not show production date or motor number. I just realized that. No one has documented a later-built Judge than 133680 then.

It would have to have been a VERY early car to be used in that promo / dealer info film. It would be VERY interesting to know if it even had a VIN . . .

Some guys on here have early first rounders. I heard this one was one if not first?
"Lucerne Blue 1971 Judge hardtop. This was our Picture of The Week for 5/11/03. This is actually the first Judge that Pontiac built for 1971, it was a show car. Owner has it documented on the build sheet. It's got a blue interior and an 4-speed manual M-22 transmission. It's been featured in recent editions of Pontiac Enthusiast Magazine and and High Performance Pontiac magazine."
