Default Heads Up Racing Photo Finish Last Night

Last night was our last heads up race of the season. Though my car isn't really a heads up car, I do enjoy throwing a bottle on it from time to time. This picture was my first round win against a turbo Coyote Mustang. This was a hole shot win, I had the better (flash)light and just held on. I lost in the second round to the eventual event winner. I think I've taken this 2 bolt (factory bolts) HFT cammed 455 about as far as I can w/o scattering it.

Great job on the thrashing!

Do they have lights at the finish line or just a visual?

One word - TURBO! Leave the goggle gas behind and boost that baby! Nice thing is for street racing it comes out easy if set up that way and comes on like a freight train at the top end. .

The start line is about 100 feet past the actual track finish line. The picture is from the official track camera. It took awhile to learn who won that one. I had the better r/t which was the difference.

I'm more of a bracket/index racer but it's still crossed my mind many times.

That pointy beak came in handy! It's no small task to outrun a boosted coyote.

Nice win!

The end of a drag strip goes by the tire.

If its low enough to trip the lights at the stripe its low enough to trip the lights at the starting line.
Not going to gain anything, no free lunches.

Staging beams are 2 inches off the ground, finish line is about 5 inches. Big difference.

Gentlemen, this was a no prep flashlight start race. It was on the back side of the drag strip and the painted line was the finish. No trip beams anywhere...
