I'm trying to get the air working in my brothers car, and I need some help. The system is out of R-12, and from what I can tell, it has the original Fridgiaire compressor in it. I plan to change fittings on it and install 134a. However, does anyone have a diagram for the internals of the system? Does the control unit use manual settings or is it vacuum operated? What part numbers/kits can I get for replacement hoses and O-rings? Thanks for the info.

You did not say what year the car is, so the controls may be vacuum or electric. No need to change hoses or O-rings, but you must change out dryer, compressor to one that is built for R134A, and blow out all the oil and replace with oil for R-134A.
