Been too long since I posted an update.. been a long year.. Here's today's progress.. finished the final but of welding, prepped the underside and firewall, and sprayed 3 coats of black epoxy.

Nice work…I’m not sure how I missed this thread before but I really enjoyed going through it today. Keep at it - we all know it’s a marathon not a sprint.

Here's the last couple days progress.. Body color on cowl and firewall.. kind of excited to see the first bit of Burgundy sprayed.. sprayed the color Wednesday night and cleared it during my lunch yesterday. I'll be blacking out the underside and firewall tomorrow hopefully 😊

Weekend progress.. Moved the car out of the booth to epoxy and paint the gas tank. Seam sealed the inside of the trunk and passenger compartment in between coats. After the tank dried enough to move, The car went back in for a final blackout of the firewall and underside.

The firewall and underside is all Flat Black Rust-oleum. I believe I added 2 ounces of enamel hardener and 2 ounces of Japan Jet Drier to a half gallon, and reduced it with acetone to make it sprayable. I can't recall the exact reduction rate, I went with what the back of the can said. Stuff actually sprays pretty damn good. And thanks, I'm happy with it too 🙂

Sounds like you're talking about the Rust-Oleum in the quart or pint can. I used the same thing for my firewall except I used gloss. I live in a very dusty environment and the dead flat just holds dirt too well. The gloss flattens out to about 60% in a few months time.. Pretty durable as mine has been there for probably about 12 years.

Yes sir Greg, I believe it is the industrial line, bought a gallon used about half. I used the same thing only in satin black on my frame.. Core support and inner wheel wells are base/cleared with a flattening agent.

Last couple weekends progress.. detailed and mounted the gas tank, dusted off the frame, installed the Z-bar and clutch rod, added color code designation markings to firewall, and lowered the body onto the frame for what I hope is the last time 🤞
