Default Factory radio wiring

I picked up a 1966 Star Chief executive four-door for my very first classic car. It hasn't been on the road since 1993 and I'm slowly getting it to come around. I turned on the radio initially and thought maybe it was broken but today there wasn't any noise from the highway and I just ever so faintly heard a sound coming from the radio.

Can somebody tell me how to remove the factory speaker in the dash and let me know how it's wired to the radio?

Usually the wiring to the speaker will be a single wire to the positive side of the speaker and the speaker will be locally grounded through metal shell of the speaker being screwed to the metal dash.

Keep in mind you want to use 8 to 10 ohm speakers. Not the common 4 ohm speakers sold everywhere today.

Good chance the radio will need the capacitors replaced if it's still all original.
