Default Convertor spacing

I just installed my Continental convertor on my 461 and im getting .118 thousands spacing between the flexplate and my convertor pads with it pushed tight to the pump. I have heard .125 thousands is ideal. Can I run that or do i need to fix somthing here?

Do you have the stock thin shim plate between the crank flange and the flexplate ?

Im .007 from ideal according to some sources, I watched a vid performance transmission put out reccomending 1/16 but that seems way to tight. Im just a hair under 1/8 now.

You should be good with those number. They recommend .085-.125 spacing.

From what I understand the measurement is suppose to be 1/8" to 3/16". Anything more than 3/16" gets shims installed to bring back into spec. I know guys who have installed with spacing around .090 and had no issues. I would agree .007 less, that you'll be fine. Make sure the converter snout fits into the crank properly once installed. You can put a bit of grease on the snout doesn't hurt. You can spin the converter and make sure there is no binding before bolting to the flex-plate.

As long as the converter pulls away from the front pump when bolted up it is OK. Doesn't need to be an exact number
