Default 63 Tempest engine / Tremec challenges

early block with early bell housing and starter to a late transmission

Wondered who has tried a early block pre 65 to a Tremec transmission?

Tremec has no options, need a early bell housing. Using 389/421 block.

Related question is the starter and header clearance. Going to be a challenge I know.

Car is a 63 Tempest

Will be interesting, the trans is tilted to the drivers side. The reason when I built my car 22 years ago I used a 428 block to have the block mounted starter. My 62 GP still has a 63 HO block with a 4 speed.Tom

Would this be the correct one? These two look like the same part number. Cast iron

61-62 has a bushing for the H type Z bar.63-64 uses a threaded ball the Zbar slides over. From the view I can’t tell if 61-62 or 63-64.I think either can be modded to work on either.Tom
