Someone in the late 70's really abused that poor Formula with flares & stripes!

Looked a lot better before it left Tx. 44K way high for condition, bottom rust must be bad. Rare SOB, too bad.

Concerning EPA emissions certification for the SD455.

What were the dates of the various changes to the rules?

Seems to me that the EPA should have required certification of the SD455 in the heaviest, most demanding service application, e.g. larger car, a/c, steeper rear. And thus that would have meant an automatic pass for the identical engine in less demanding applications.

Perhaps certify the SD455 at least in say a Grand Am station wagon, and thus green light the lighter less demanding applications, saving the redundancies of numerous separate certifications.

Certainly not having the SD455 certified for the intermediates was a huge blunder, as those bodies had greater floor space for say a set of duel cat convertors, thus perhaps also allowing the SD455 to continue for 1975 and 1976.

Then they could have simply downsized it to the 366. And if need be, de-bored the 366 a bit to continue it well into the 1980s, if not longer.

This one is new to me but obvisously allot has been changed from new. The fan shroud on up. A/C is wrong. A/C wasnt an option on a sd stick car. Now Ive seen it all. Sad

It was an automatic car originally - converted to 4-speed in England (original export car) during it's time there. Also a 1971 Deluxe interior added at that time. Partial quarters too. A fun driver to beat on - at best.

A lot of overseas cars dont get the "full Montey" as they go with what they got. Be cool to fix a few things, but looks like fun as it is.
Doesnt mention if the engine or the driveline is original, just says the word "correct" . Someone will buy it and maybe drive it...

Yeah, that makes sense on the parts. If seller thinks he is going to get top dollar he better market the car better. Either way its 1 of 180 built and you cant take that away from it.

I got close to purchasing it in 2020 but the border closure, Covid, shipping issues got in the way. I think the owner at that time agreed to 50K...my memory is not clear on whether we got to a final price (it was advertised on Houston Craigslist for 53k).

It has an SR engine. Correct 270 carb. I will certainly be kicking myself if this thing goes anywhere close to asking, but I doubt anybody is gonna pony up that kind of coin if they go look at it, or get more detailed pictures. It's a bit rough, but definitely potential for a fun driver.

I find the swap to a '71-72 interior totally bizarre. But why?
What I do find interesting is the seat belt & shoulder harness delete with the attending UPC codes. Neither of those codes are in any of my factory literature. So this means that Pontiac (or Fisher Body) actually made headliners and carpet sets without holes in them?

There is an export white SD Formula floating that is seat belt and shoulder harness delete. Must've been a Europe thing.

I think that was the car Dennis Collins bought and resold here in the DFW area around 2012 or so. The prior owner(s) in Europe added Trans Am wheel flares and front lower air dam if I remember right. That was just before NJSteve bought the other white SD Formula. Dennis had 3-4 SD's for sale in a row at that time including that white Formula. He sent me a number of pics of it including the PHS at the time but I have somehow lost track of them.

Edit: Found the post with pics and the PHS docs: http://www.forums.maxperformanceinc....2&#post4602392

looks identical, both have power windows, single toggle switch for rear defrost, looks like they removed the flares and air dam and re-painted the car.
