Special GTO Dealer Giveaway Sticker - Rare
These were saved by my dad (Pontiac salesman from 1963 - 1995).
I believe these to be circa 1968 - when the GTO was the Motor Trend car of the year. Overall actual size is roughly 2.5" by 8.5". There are 5 decals - and you must cut them out separately and then peel off the backing to apply. $30.00 each including shipping. Very limited supply. |

very cool!
Based on the "6.5 Litre" wouldn't this be a pre-1967 promotional item? iirc: 6.5L = 389ci 6.6L = 400ci

The 6.5L fender emblem was used from 1964 - 68, even though the displacement changed slightly. Back then, nobody knew what a liter was anyway...
FWIW - 6.5L = 396.65 ci https://www.opgi.com/gto/EM00023/?gc...oaAvEoEALw_wcB |

huh, I learned something new!
when the displacement was increased the Firebird's received "400" badges, I would have assumed that the GTO's would have had updated badges.

The Firebird had the 326, 350 and 400 inch V8's from the start and they were promoting the traditional cubic inch size as the other models. |

Pontiac was not the only company to use the Litre designation. In 1965 Ford Motor Car Division decided to introduce a new engine, using the FE block. This new powerplant would sport 428 ci, and would be a high torque, streetable big block. It was dubbed the "Thunderbird 7-Litre " and was slotted to appear on some of the 1966 models. Fords executives decided that what better way to introduce the engine than to create a special marque to showcase it. Using a Galaxie 500, with an XL Interior, some added features and some custom badges, the FORD 7-Litre was born. |
