Default Still camming

Hows it going, cammers?
I just wanted to catch up with you guys, because in spite of my handle, I've been drivng our '67 LeMans with the V8. It's a sweet car. Pretty much loaded and driving it with the power disc brakes is a real pleasure. But we still have our '66 Tempest Sprint. I've attached pics of the car on a good day and a bad day.
The Tempest got smashed up of course. Since the day that happened, though, we've been planning on rebuilding that car, which we keep in storage. It's never been on the back burner. As far as we're concerned, we own two cars and two projects. Tempest Custom shells don't come up often, but we'll be ready when a good one comes along. I suppose that I could dremmel the holes for the chrome moulding unique to the Tempest Custom if we got a LeMans or plain Tempest shell, but I'd rather not. Still, I have to remain flexible. Here's an example of a car that pretty much only comes up around once a year around here:

Rough and not cheap. But enough to rebuild our car. We're hoping by spring that we'll be able to start a rebuild thread. I'll keep you posted. Cheers.

I have been a fan of the 66 Tempest Custom since 1976, when my dad bought me my first car. $85 running and driving.

I still have the car, currently with a 455 Turbo 350 drivetrain in it. It originally was a one barrel OHC car. I think we had a total of three different OHC motors in it over the years between myself and other family members that drove it.

The trim piece going down the side body line looks great in my opinion.

All I've been able to do is go by the storage facility every once and a while, for now. That poor car. I'm glad we kept it, though. People are offering stupid money for this car, as is. We're not selling, of course.
Looking forward to warmer weather up here on the frozen tundra.

So sad to see it down and out, But commend you for keeping it.

Hopefully, it's a secured yard, if not I might suggest starting to remove any/all parts that can/will be re-used.
I had a few cars stored and was amazed at what went missing in short order.

Anyhow look forward to the re-build process.

Came across this thread, and brought back some memories.
My first real car was the 1967 Tempest Sprint with the OHC-6 with the 4 bbl carb.
I remember it was a very light car, and really screamed, and as a punk kid I beat the piss out of it.. The handling was excellent. I could whip Big block Chevys in parking lot races as they would just burn rubber while I hooked up with the Posi and left them looking at my tail lights..
I crashed it bad, repaired it, but it was never the same. I love seeing these time to time at the local car shows.

Interesting article...surprising that they didn't know that the OHC6 was first produced in 66.

Not exactly sure of the differences...originally 230 cubes and then went to 250 in '69 I think. I still have a'66 1 bbl in the barn, been there since '83.

The 1966 230 was rated at 207HP.

The 66-67 engines were 230ci and the 68-69 were 250ci.

I think each head was different (230 v 250, and 1 barrel v Sprint) and they machined the combustion chamber size to make up the compression ratio for each engine.

I’ve never heard the opinion about the accessory drive being the weak link of the engine.

I've also never heard of the Acc house having issues,
It was the early 230 oil metering valve that caused a lot of issues.
