1971 to 1975 Formula Hoods
More stuff from the recent garage clean-a-palooza:
I have two factory fiberglass hoods for a 1971 to 1975 Firebird. (they both have the steel reinforcement brace that was not used in 1970). I installed the Lucerne blue one on my 1975 Firebird in 1993 and had it on the car until I installed a shaker a couple years ago. It has the traditional slight bulge in the middle that they all get. The windshield corner tips are intact and in good shape. The blue hood in very nice shape with all the cowl vents intact though a couple show evidence of prior adhesive repair on the underside. (see photos). The Ram Air nostrils have been cut out as I ran the factory Ram Air air cleaner with it. I have the entire reproduction Ram Air setup available separately) You can see the blue hood installed on my car in this thread: http://forums.maxperformanceinc.com/...ghlight=gramma The primer red hood needs some repair as it has a crack in the front driver's side corner. On the plus side all the cowl vent ribs are in perfect shape with no evidence of prior repairs. The Ram Air notrils are opened up and the windshiled corner tips are in very good shape. Only one of them has a slight chip in the end. Both hoods have been strored properly on their sides, sitting on a rolled up rug and chair cushions to prevent any pressure points that would hurt the fiberglass. $200 for the blue one $100 for the primer one. I know what you mean. They are impossible to ship and you can never find one local when you need it. That was why I bought the primer red one at the time - it showed up in a local want-ad 50 miles away!
