high 10 - low 11 sec 60 ft times
Hey gang, I know there are a million variables that play into 60 ft times, I am just curious what you you guys are who have high 10 to low 11 sec cars are getting out of yours. My street car just made it's first 6 second 1/8 pass last weekend and it went 1.51, so im wondering if this is about normal or am i leaving some on the table?

Adam depends on convertor and set up. My first E head 455 with a roller cam and a 5000 stall convertor would 60 ft 1.51 6.9 1/8 and a 10.95 1/4. New pump gas HFT with a tight 10" Continental convertor only 1.6 60s but a best 10.90 and 1 mph faster.

My old 455 HO engine had a 60' in the low 1.4s. Best ever was a 1.42. On a good day with decent rubber and track prep it would average 1.44-1.45.
You could really tell the difference on a 1.51 60 foot. The car was a 11 flat car for years and dipped into the low 10.80s when I went to a drag radial. It hooks really well, I have more in the rear end-traction department than I have power. Makes for a good bracket car. |

3950# race weight through the mufflers on ET streets I run 10.90’s and my 60’ is usually 1.49-1.53

Low 1.6 in 60' times got me to high 10s. But admittedly my car left a lot on the table to the 60 times. These time slips were with my D-port headed 474

With that MPH you should be at least 10.30- 10.40's

I've been 1.50-1.54 @ 10.80- 11.0 on 10.5 M/t slicks. Switched to 275 radial pro and removed the southside bars and now best of 1.56. Im sure that It will 60 just as good if not better than before once I get some more runs on it and sorted out.

I ran this new combination the first two times out with the secondaries unhooked and a 120-180 lbs in the trunk to run some 7.50 index stuff, last week was the first weekend with it all out. I do have a little adjustability on the lower bar at the housing, I have 5 holes, i'm currently in the 3rd. I haven't had a chance to play with shocks either. I'm running a 28x9 Pro Bracket Radial. .030 400 with edelbrocks, th-400 ptc 9" 4400 converter and 3.70 gear. Here's where I'm at.

My next change will be installing my anti roll bar and control arm braces. Going to put the weight back in and go back to 2bbls to prepare for the last 2 7.50 index races, then hopefully back to WFO in the cool fall air. I’d love to wrap up the season with a low 6.8X pass.

One last hurrah for 2022
We had some nice cool air a couple weeks ago, so I took the LeMans out one more time. Ran new bests across the board. lol he car went 7.18@94 with a 1.55 60 ft running on primaries only shifting at 5100/5200 in sportsman mode, then after eliminations ended, I bumped the shift up to 5500 and hooked up the secondaries. Went 1.506 60 ft and 6.826@99.81. I would’ve loved to had time to yank off the alternator belt and lose the mufflers just to see if I could’ve gotten into the 6.60’s but there wasn’t enough time. All things considered, I’m very happy with that performance, but I would’ve loved to get that 1.4X 60 ft and the 100.XX mph on that last run. Lol

I don’t remember off the top of my head, but I will look at the log book this weekend when I get back to the car.

Last time out 7.11 @ 97 1.59 60 ft. That would be about an 11.05 give or take.

The best 1/8th mile pass with the Ventura was 7.18 @ 97mph. 60' time was 1.59 which was also the best with that converter. That run was in August so still pretty hot/humid outside, DA right at 3500' on that particular outing.
I tested at least half a dozen converters for Continental over the years, and never went that quick in ET or MPH with "looser" versions, but I blame most of that on the 28" tall rear tires up against 3.42 gears. 3.42 gears just "hang" thing out too long after the launch and really need taller gears to get the best out of them......IMHO Anything tighter than the "tight "10" version (3600rpm's flash stall) also slowed it down at the track. So for every combo there is a specific converter that's going to give you the best of both Worlds without changing other players in the game like tires and rear gears to optimize things.......

A play back Tach is very darn helpful to really let you see after a run just how much time your motor spends at a given rpm, and then make adjustments and changes based on that info.

When I was running 11.0X's, my 60ft times were 1.38-1.39. My 1/8 mile was 6.90's @ 95 mph, and 1/4 mile was 118 mph. This is leaving on trans-brake with 4:30 gears and 9x30 radial slicks.
This year with around 45-50HP more, I made a few test hits and best was 1.33 60ft, 6.63 @ 99.65 mph, and 10.59 @ 123 mph. Engine dyno'd around 520HP and race weight is 3350 lbs.
