Looks like a solid car- as others said I would look at the block from under the car and verify the head casting #.

The console kind of made these cars- but it’s rare enough I haven’t seen one in my 25 years of the hobby. I would seriously consider it

I too would double check those numbers;
I could see how 64 just might be mistaken for 62;
As mentioned earlier that number stamped horizontally above hte engine code is the Engine Unit Number - it's there and was recorded with the car's original paperwork for warranty purposes.
The partial vin my be REALLY hard to see unless you crawled under the car with a rag, scraper, and a flash light.

The column shift and power bench seat would be kinda neat in my opinion.

If this is the second owner, he may not know if the car had paint touch ups, or a small front end collision in the past - which might explain the red overspray.

'69-70-71 GPs with bucket seats & console are not that rare. Original consoles for them tend to hold up fairly well if taken care of.

Factory bench seat '70 GP's, ESP 400 HD 3speed/12 bolt cars, BEYOND rare.

Personally would go no more than 15K buy-in on such a cardinal red '70 GP.

Cardinal red & strato bench seat, auto, do hold it back, wer'e not talking RA3 GTO convert OR RA3 Judge convert desirability wise.

Update-

So the seller says the prior owner told him it was repainted once

The heads are “64” not 62s so that makes sense with the XF 455 block - unrujonny called it!

He also says he has paperwork that says engine was rebuilt at around 43k miles - seems odd it would have been rebuilt as such a young age

One repaint and an engine rebuild- people really do stretch the meaning of survivor car

ha-ha!

It also seems as though many stretch the meaning of "numbers matching"!

I tend to think (or maybe it's hope) that in both instances, it's more often than not ignorance on the part of the seller;
Reputable sellers tend to back up claims, but it seems to often be the case where one time sellers misuse the terms.

With the new information, I feel 23K is the absolute top of the market for that car. There are 3 nice 69-70 GP's for sale by the same seller in last month's Smoke Signals. Better colors, IMO, bucket seats, console. You might want to check those 3 out. I can probably find and text you the ads if you want to PM me.
