1978 WS6 T/A with Fisher T-Tops. No SE grilles. Does have the right tires on it for the year.

You'd think Burts car would have the right grills in it.

Still, it's a shame that car will probably never see the road much, if at all. Destined to sit in a showroom living out its days.

If it was an early 78 it would have Hurst hatches, not Fisher tops.

Somebody over there is full of chit

Right, the dash literature in pic above states Y84 and the BJ auction description says Y82. Typo?

72projectbird, the wheels (I'm assuming that's what you mean) are the 8"rims that go with the WS6 package only. I believe 78 was the first year for them. They are the same as what I had on my 79 Formula. Of which I have 8 WS^ rims that need to be restored. Plus, I have 4 brand new correct center caps for those rims.

Non 8" rims didn't have the machined clear coated extension. They were all the same color as the center section of the 7" rims were. I'd like to also add that you never ever use Westley' Bleach White and get it on the rims. It will eat off the clear coat and ruin the paint underneath it. Don't ask me how I know.

15x8 GOLD snowflakes should be the '78 gold formulation paint all the the way to the outer edge. Those wheels should be rough cast spoke Westerns, again with the lips also painted.

'79-81 15x8 snowflakes had the fully machined lips & spokes, AND were made by both Western & Appliance. Slightly different casting between the two original vendors versions. Gathering up wheels for the weld-up/paint/remachine /restore process, had to make sure there were no mix and match sets,.

Anyone willing to spill the beans on "business endeavor" of all the '77 & 78 "Bandit" cars run through Burt Reynolds "ownership" in the mid 2000's, early teens?

I was talking about the t-tops. Early Y82 78s had the hatches, the later Y82s had Fisher tops.

Speaking of 78 snowflake wheels, would the 78 Y82s have an entirely gold wheel except the lip like the Y88? Or would they look more like the 79-81 snowflakes? I'm restoring an early 78 Y82 and tracked down the correct 78 wheels, but I need to refinish them.

I have seen some 8x15s from 78 that were not painted all the way to the edge. Special order maybe? 4 of mine are from 78 and are not painted all the way to the edge. I bought them from an original owner of a late year newly built in July 78, and knew the car from the day one with them on it on the lot fresh off the car hauler. He saw it and had to have it.

OGR, that was an option in 79. You could get them with no paint on them. But the dealer had to order them that way.
