Default Found 61 Tempest in Local pick a part

Stumbled on this 61 Tempest 4-door, 1bbl, Auto car in a local pick a part, Drive train looks complete, minus Generator, and Air Cleaner. Took a few bad Cell phone pic's. If anyone could use some parts off it, it is in Flat Rock MI, Parts Galore. I may be able to go back sometime this weekend if anyone not local could use something. P/M me a contact phone number if you do.

A couple more bad cell phone pic's. Most body parts are rusted badly, and most of the trim is gone, but the glass is all intact, and some interior parts are still salvegable.

If someone goes to pull parts off and can check and pull that steering wheel for me, let me know. Looks to be in good shape.

Dumb question! Do you need a steering wheel, or just looking for a good spare?

Been wanting a standard wheel for a 63. No luck yet finding a 63 wheel and I'm okay with an early one.

Guys, if you want anything off the car, PM me a contact phone number and I will try and make it back there this weekend. So far I have

1 - Power steering - I think we are talking the complete set up, bracket, pump, hoses, and did these cars use a Booster cylinder or a power Box? Just need to know what tools to bring.

2 - Steering wheel

But I will not pull parts with out speaking to you at the yard, just to make sure you are OK with the condition of them, and completeness. I have been burned by some in the past.

Jeff,,,If you pull the PS, get pump & mount brackets, all pulleys, undo tie rod ends & steering gear drag link & remove entire assembly, tie rod to tie rod. There is also a mount bracket on the left frame rail that the PS cylinder mounts to.

Jeff,
Once the steering wheel is off the the shaft slides right out of the column. There is a hose bracket inside the fender well too that protects the hoses. Keith is right pull the entire steering out in one piece. I just made the swap on my car, its very simple.

I would imagine that metal speedo housing is useful for someone with a deteriorating plastic one.

I would have to check there prices on an engine, last time I bought one it was around $200-$250 but that was a V-8 and they are alittle bit more money, for that one I would have to have the $$$$ upfront, especially as you are about 2000 miles away!!!!! Shipping could get pricey. I plan on going back tuesday, so if serious PM me a Phone number.

I wish I could just but a car from a pick-a-part, but once they are in there they stay. I had a 68 2-door Catalina follow me into one several years ago. just a little rust, no smooke good interior. The lady driving it sold it to them for $200.00!!!!! It was her fathers car, and she did not want him driving anymore!!!!! They would not sell it, I had to wait 2 hours for them to "prep" it, they drained all the fluids by drilling holes in all the pans, even the oil pan!!!! And when it made it out of "prep" the Q-jet was already gone, I got the 400, front disc brakes, and the ralley wheels for $350.00. If I would have known she was scraping it I would have offered her $50.00 more than what the yard was paying. Just never accured to me it was being scrapped when it drove in!!!!

Well I made it back to the yard, and all the parts are still there, I grabbed the Complete power steering unit (SOLD), Steering Wheel (SOLD), Instrument Cluster, & Water Pump, And Finger Guard/Upper radiator mount. So if anyone could use those PM me with an offer before they go on Ebay. The Speedo, Battery and Gas Gauge lettering are in very good used condition, and the metal case is undamaged. The 4 cyclinder water pump I would consider a Core or rebuilder.

And a few more shots, Is this a normal Harmonic Balancer? I have never seen one like this, it apears that the pulleys are stamped, but part of the cast hub? Or is all the grime obscuring the was it is assembled?
