power in socket in instrument dash
replaced all the blubs in my instrument panel found one bulb holder with a smaller than 1895 bulb inside on top of steering column. I shut off the car with a kill switch and cleaned the socket but when i put a test light on it. How is it possible it lite the test light with the kill switch on? It also has two wires on the socket a light green and a black wire. 1965 GTO.I don't know how this socket has power

But dash high beam lamp is connected to the high-beam side of the dimmer switch. If the high beam lamp is on the headlight would be on as well.

If the car has a kill switch seperate from the ignition switch, it was most likely a theft deterant.
If the kill switch grounds out the negative side of the coil... Having a bulb in-line would be easier on the ignition wires and coil than going straight to ground. Need to hear about ignition switch being off or on when this socket shows voltage. Clay |

Thanks for reply all of you, it is the high beam bulb. All other bulbs are all #1895 i pulled this one out of the socket and it is #1445. I will run another ground wire from the back of one of the gauges (rally) and see if my dash lights operate then, thanks for the replays
