Default Holley vs. Edelbrock Carburetors

Gentlemen,

I currently have a Holley 750 vacuum secondaries on my GTO and can get an Elderbrock Carburetor (free) out of the box and am asking for your opinions on which carburetor you prefer. I have an Elderbrock Performer intake manifold on my car.

I would try it and see which works better for your car. I've pretty much ran them all. As with most engineering solutions, there's always trade-offs to be made. I think the Holley is easier to tune. I ran a Carter 625 on my 350 Chevelle daily driver for a while. It worked well after throwing the tuning kit at it. Was very lean out of the box. Also struggled to get a smooth secondary transition. After tuning it was a very good carb though.

I would not waste time and funds to make any of them work properly.
I would sell them to the Chevy crowd and get a proper Pontiac Quadrajet intake and carb.

Agreed! Before I understood what a terrifically versatile and capable carburetor the Q-Jet was, I mocked it. I ran a Holley 3310 for years without issue. However, when I finally went back to a properly jetted/metered Q-jet, the entire driving experience was improved.

Agree on Q-jet or 800 spreadbore double pumper working best on Pontiac.

I may just go ahead and get my Q-jet 7028269 rebuilt or find a 7029268 and rebuild it. Do any of you have any recommendations on companies who will rebuild Q-Jets and/or sell rebuild kits? I have looked at carburetion.com ($)

Neighbor who owns a shop down in the City of Chicago recommended this company and sends all his carb work out to this company.
https://www.uremcoinc.com/

I was having trouble with my GTO last year with hard starting after sitting for just a couple of days. I pulled the carb and had my neighbor take it and send it off to UREMCO.

The cost was $335 for the rebuild plus another $40 for S&H
By the way it is not a REMANUFACTURER CARBURETOR. That is just the box they package it in.

Results after rebuild and installed. Few light pumps of pedal and one full push to set choke and GTO fires up are after seconds.
