Same with this one!! There both numbers matching 1968 camaros but they need a ton of work unlike most other cars shown above.

I worked for a year and a half as a photographer for the Auto Trader magazine here in Phoenix and you would not believe have many cars I could show you just sitting rotting away. I know one guy who has a gorgeous 68 Lemans Ragtop just sitting under a carport witht the top down for a years. Body is super nice, the interior is covered in dirt but would clean up nice. Says he is going to fix it someday (yeah, right). I also know a storage yard with some first gen Camaro's, Chevelle's just sitting for years. I know of a 74 GTO that is supposed to be for sale, however I have never been able to contact the owner and I have left my number but never got any replies. It is a shame.....many people would love to get ahold of these cars and bring them back to life but people just seem to want to let tem rot and not let anyone get ahold of them.

Just a good ole Boy!! Never meanin no harm... Yep! Both cars went into the ditch front end first and bent the subframes. Not a big deal as I'm getting pretty darn good at restoring first gen subframes. As for the bodies, me, the spot and mig welders and a few hand built jigs should have them looking better in short order. Unfortunately, I don't have the cash to buy the panels yet.

Anyone notice how many of the F-bodies in the bone yards were "backed" into trees.

Yes those were original tires. All dry rotted from sitting flat in the field for years. Judge has 64,000 on the clock. Evidently was rearended in 1978 and then stripped of parts slowly over the years until owner realized he would never get around to fixing it up and sold it to me. Got very lucky with this one as it basically fell in my lap. Rust free floors and frame from Texas. This one will be saved.

formula400 - That Ford Sonic Blue looks absolutely stunning on your 'Bird. Nice Job.

I bought this car about four years ago after offering to buy it annually for six years. The owner said he finally sold it to me because he was tired of listening to this grandsons argue about which one would inherit it.

The original drivetrain was long gone, replaced by a '71 GTO 400 and TH400 (both of which I still have), but the rally gauges, AM radio and factory reverberator remained intact.

I sold it to a good friend in the Texas Metroplex. He obtained a PHS report on it and found it to be not only a true '65 GTO two-door post, but also a tripower, four-speed, posi axle car.

just bought the convertible from allrize's earlier post

loaded with options, all still on and working
speed minder + low fuel, power windows, power steering, power antenna, power bucket seat, tilt wheel, wood wheel (in trunk), power top, hazard switch, 3:23 posi, rally I wheels, console and vacume gauges with buckets, and some other smaller stuff like mirror package, floormats, etc....

runs great! (70's smog motor - but dependable)

the guy has had it for 20 years - restored 17 years ago
(the pictures are good to it - its a 20 footer)
new top this year - been sitting in his barn most of the time, beside his house for the last few years
he bought it from his best friend who had it for 10 years
who bought it from the grandma two streets over, who's still alive (trying to get her phone #)

I have been slowly working on it for the last 11 years with some long layoffs over that time. I didn't touch it for a year once as I pulled the motor to put in a new rear main and it leaked (or so I thought, turns out that it was my transmission pan seal and I run Amsoil so they look the same) so I was just plain disgusted with it. I am turning it into a street rod with everything having been taken apart, restored, or replaced. Here is what it looked like aboout 2 years ago. Doesn't look much different today as I decided to chuck the th400/3200 stall and the 10 bolt 65 GTO 3:23 posi in favor of a 2004r and a furd 9" (anyone need a completely rebuilt 10 bolt posi for their 65 GTO? I would prefer to give it to a GTO project instead of the 442 across the street) so that is what I have been working on. I certianly couldn't have gotten this done in 4 months, heck I think it took me 4 months just to convince myself to stop changing my mind and just build it.
