Page 455 on this thread now. It should end here. There is no 456 in Pontiacese.

Thankfully with the availability of stroker cranks and aftermarket blocks we can get well into the 500's or more..."pages that is"....

Who would have thought 52 years ago in the fall of 59 that the new 455 offered in the GTO, GP and big cars would be the pinnacle of displacement, after going from 287 to 455 in only 15 years who would have imagined it would stop climbing and then go south?

Interesting trajectory
In sequence here was the biggest yet regular production engine from Pontiac:
1926: 187 inline 6
1929: 200 ""
1933: 223 inline 8
1936: 232 ""
1937: 249 ""
1950: 268 ""
1955: 287 V8
1956: 317 ""
1957: 348 ""
1957: 370 ""
1959: 389 ""
1963: 421 ""
1967: 428 ""
1970: 455 ""

"Epic price for this Bomb https://phoenix.craigslist.org/cph/c...402598265.html"

Boy, they really did slope down in the rear back then, didn't they?

speaking of sloping back down...

The largest ever Pontiac engine was the 70-76 455
Here is the biggest engine available by year going forward from 1976

77-78: 403 V8 (olds)
1979: 400 V8 (Pontiac)
80-84: 350 V8 (Olds gas 80 and then only diesel)
85-86: 305 V8 SBC V8
87-97: 350 V8 ""
98-02: 346 V8 LS1
2003: 278 V8 (downsized caddy northstar)
2004: 346 V8
05-06: 364 V8
2007: 325 V8
08-09: 376 V8
2010: 214 V6

bumpier ride down but interesting that until the 2010 model year (which was just a few hundred G6's and Asian micro stuff) you had continuous V8 availability from 1955 to 2009 (55 consecutive model years) with the last V8 probably being the strongest they ever built.

And if that's a Parchment interior, that must have been one heavily smoked in car.

I am also on Page 182
- but i have disabled all signatures and disabled inserted pictures and thumbnails.
Just get click-links for viewing pics.

I'm curious about the "view count" on this thread
being 991,955 - it doesn't look like it will support a 7th digit
will it roll over back to 0 when it hits a million views ?

Lets Find Out

These cars always make me giggle. I'm not sure if that was the intent. But people are bidding on this thing.

Now there's something you don't see everyday. Certainly a conversation piece, if nothing else...I kinda like it.
