Default New 301-383 RA V stroker build

I guess I have had too much time on my hands these days.Just got the 428 RA V in the 69 bird and have started another 301 stroker build. This will be much like the 383 that Joe Sherman and I did a few years back except it will be with a set of 303 RA V heads
The build is going much faster than planned.
Blocks done, heads are done. The forged 3 3/4 crank is out to Marine Crankshaft having the thrust welded up.Using a hyd roller RA V version of the new SP II cam with 6194-6196 lobes on a 113.The rub is we have to use Morel LS lifters with pontiac link bars and the heads have to be off to put lifters in and out.
As before 6.135 BBC rods.It will be a 9.5 CR street build
I will start the engine with a factory 4 bbl intake and Holley RAV carb.
After we will put the factory Xram intake and a pair of 450 Holleys and see how it runs.
The only thing held up now is to order pistons and push rods. Will update as it proceeds.
Not sure it will make any more HP than the Dport 383
This V stuff is a sickness!Tom

Very cool build! I can't wait to see the results. One question, are you limiting the compression ratio to 9.5 because this will be a street only engine? Also, what was the C. R of the race 303's?

This will be a 100% street engine and operate 99% of the time at off idle to about 2500.That has been the gearing combo in the bird with pretty much every engine in the last few years.366 std deck V,455 D port and now the 428 V.3.27 first gear TKO500 and 3.31s in the back with a .67 OD.I think the 303s were in the 12-1 CR area.Tom

Any roller lifter will need the heads removed to install. Why the Morel LS lifters?

Hmmm, I forgot 265/301’s took different lifters from all the other Pontiac engines!

Are you going to use V Exhaust Manifolds this time ?

Do you still have the first D-Port 301/383 engine ?
Wasn't it around 1hp per cube

This thread needs more pictures

I know they moved it here from the Lobby
But it probably fits better in the Street Section,
and more will probably take notice of it that would like to follow and see the results.

This is much broader of a topic to just confine it to the early bird watchers. imho

The crank just got back from having the thrust welded, cam should be done in the next couple weeks.Js still need to be cut for BBC rods. After that we need to get the pin height so we can order the pistons.Actually going faster than I had planned. When the block gets on the stand I will try to get pics as the build goes along.tom
