Default Courtesy Lights, Rear Lenses and LED Bulb Vs Stock Comparisons

I'm trying to finish up a big restoration and the little things are sticking out. The factory courtesy light bulbs were missing and the rear lenses were old and bulbs weak and yellowish. So here's my update...

1969 GTO Convertible

The factory rear courtesy lenses were surprisingly NOT the egg shell color the 2 brands I bought from sold me.
The clearest lenses that were identical match to the factory came from Oldbuickparts, Cars, Ebay seller = Oldbuickparts

Cool White 5700 LED
BA15D (dual rear bulb contacts)
You will need to bend away the inside male prongs sticking up in the light socket to fit the new LED bulb. No biggie, needle nose and a little pressure away from the center and then the bulb fits in.

The difference between the new LED bulb and the old bulb is pretty noticeable.

I'm really pleased with the new look and brighter lights.

Pic 5 = Rear view looking in
Since this photo I moved the driver dash bulb in a more centered fashion and a bit down to give it the brightness the passenger LED bulb gives off the floor.

Someone might find this useful, I know I would've as this took me many hours to pull it off in this way.

Very inviting ... makes me want to hop in that convertible and go to a drive-in.

I find interior lighting to be very important to how a car makes you feel when you drive it. I put a lot of miles on my GTO back when I was a kid, spent a lot of time looking at those lights on a lot of long lonely drives at night. Leaves an impression on you.

Ya exactly, I feel like the bright light blue and clear rears does just that. Very exciting when you see it in the dark just pop like this when the doors open IMO.

I'm gonna do the dash lights with the same cool Blue T10 led lights to get those to pop also. I'll do a post on that later this year.

Oddly enough, I feel like the clear rears makes the car look cleaner even though it's parchment. That clear white really makes the interior pop out.
