I'm thinking a 66 safe track? it has 4 pinion gears... and a 3.56 gear set...

What part number & dates are inscribed on the outside edge of the ring gear & the face of the pinion head?

Ring gear bolts are not '64-69 Pontiac 8.2. Have a good feeling it's later, then there would only be two possibilities...

Look for the date code on the ring gear.

Ring gear 39-11 GM 6690
Pinion says 39-11 GM 69 E A

Looks like a new set of gears, no wear anywhere...

And I'm pretty sure its a BOP 8.2, has a 2" tall deck?

GM 8.2" 2.73:1 and down, 2-series, 1.615" deck height 3.08:1 and up, 3-series, 2.000" deck height

It's a 1969 4 pinion 8.2" with 7/16" bolts.

so... This will fit in a 1964 rear end, and will take my stock axles?
Sorry if its a dumb question!
Maybe a little more info...
64 421, compression at 9.5, ram manifolds, tripower, mild head work on 716 heads, 3.35 rear ratio, stock 4 speed, stock sized tires, no track time, but will jump on it from time to time...
64 housing and axels ok to use?

It will fit any 64-72 8.2" Pontiac rear. You should check the condition of the posi before you install.
