I just installed a 455 into my 81 trans am,installed new flywheel and starter.Now
when i try to start it,the thing just grinds
like one does when the flywheel is shot.Is there a chance i got a bad starter or what.
Thanks for any and all help.

also on the shims: if you can't get it right with flat shims cut them in half and shim one side more than the other. this will allow you to "fine tune" the starter to the block. for those of you that haven't heard of this it is a factory fix. mike

My local parts puppies (Autozone) have starter shims cheap. Ditto on the above posts.
