I'm going to look at and most likely purchase a 1980 Turbo TA Pace Car this weekend. Anything I should look out for on these particular models?
Known problems?
*
The car only has 21k original miles. The only problem the owner said they have is it pings a little when the turbo kicks in. I know what that is, just need to make the turbo wastegate adjustable and take a little boost out (I've worked on Turbo Regals for several years so I should be able to trouble shoot most problems with this car.)
*
Any pointers would be greatly appriciated, Thanks.

Other than looking for the "normal" things like rust and previous body work, pay very close attention to the condition of the interior trim & plastic parts. Several of the interior parts are NOT being reproduced and are no longer available new and may be difficult to locate if needed.

Well, I didn't get the TTA with the supposed 21k miles. It looked more like 121K from under the car, engine compartment and interior.
Found another with only 13k and it is mint inside and out. May have a little more than 13k but still looking...

Keep an eye out for rust working its way out from the inside on top of the front fenders.
These fenders are no longer being produced, I believe.
Cracked exhaust manifolds on the turbo side are common also.

Cracked exhaust manifolds on BOTH sides are common on the turbos (thanks for reminding me, RRF)

Thanks for the tips. The manifolds on the 13k car were hardly rusted, at least not as bad as the others I looked at. I really don't want to get the turbo series because I know engine parts will be difficult to find, but it seems that is all I can find with low mileage.
