alternator kicks in at 1000rpm's
Have a Peterbilt with a Cat engine. Alternator don't kick in till 1000 rpm when you first start it and then its fine. Just curious

Normal.
After the oil pressure comes up, give it a little rev, then let it warm up as normal.

one-wire may do that....a 3 wire connection would probably start right up.

George,your right,my cars with a regulator is instant,the one wires are not.Tom

Its a one wire and that's what I do. The beast has close to a million miles and only had bearing rolled into it but the old ones looked fine. I drive it to Norwalk every year.

This alternator have a terminal to hook up a charge indicator light?
