Haven't had many cars, but I tend to like non-mainstream cars. Currently have a '91 Caddy Allante, also. My '67 Lemans Sprint was cool, linden green, black vinyl, parchment, console, rear defrost, 3.90 posi, 3 speed. Installed a 5 speed OD, was fun to drive.
Currently own a '67 GTO, but if a decent AMX came along......... George

My first 4-speed 68 GTO...bought from the original owner in 1979 with 65,000 miles on it.
A very close second: My 69 Ford Torino GT Fastback 390 - 4V with a C6. Red/Black stripes |

Hard to say.... Had a '70 Monte Carlo when I was 18....had a lot of good times in that car. '59 Impala I had when I was 20....did a lot of partying and cruising.... '65 Grand Prix I had in my late 20's/early 30's.....put 50,000 miles on it in about 3 years. '78 Corvette I had in my early 20's...put 45,000 miles on it in 2 years... I like the cars I have now....just don't have that everyday connection with them like I did when I was younger....when they were just old cars....

I guess this is pretty easy for me. My fav of all the cars Ive owned is my current 66 GTO vert. Its the car I dreamed that Id own since I was a kid. Everything that car currently is and what I have planned for it is IMO awesome. Ill never part with it. Ive put 1700 miles on this past summer which is a lot for me in one season.
The car I miss the most would be a toss up. My 66 Blue Charcoal Lemans was such a great car and the memories I have with that car are endless. In the 15 years I owned that car, its the one that got me involved in the hobby and made so many friends. The other car I miss wand would love to have again someday is a 76 Cutlass with T tops. I had one back in high school and to me that car was cool all over. Of course it was my fist car. Bought for $900 and was my fav color - blue. |

Great topic. I have loved all of my cars however I never regret when I sell one to buy another. I tend to get tired or each of them after awhile.
Only two vehicles that I have lost sleep over. First was my 08 Avalanche. I know it's not a classic but easily the most functional and comfortable truck I have ever owned. I sold it when gas remained at a stupid high price and I was driving a ton of miles. With gas below $3, I may look to pick up another. Second was my 73 Grand Prix. This was my first car and it caught fire due to a carb overflow. I lost sleep for months after that. I was always restless to find the right car until I picked up the 76 GP I have now. It drives like a dream and looks as much disco as it did back in the 70's. I put it up for sale a few weeks ago and after the first test drive I took the sale down. Can't part with it yet.

Mines my 78 T/A. I haven't driven it in a very long time, but I still have it, and I hope to have wheels on it by the end of next summer.
A close second is my S12 nissan. Bought that same kinda car three times over. It not that it was fast, the T/A would run rings around it, it was devalued at the right time in my life where I was willing to mod it in anyway possible. Inspired me to learn engineering skills, machining, and welding. Had I taken that route with the T/A; isn't a soul in my whole circle wouldn't have said I ruined it, The nissan complemented who I am as a car guy.

First: 74 4-door Maverick. Baby sh!t brown with a white vinyl top. Straight six 250, no power brakes, no power steering, no power anything. High school and college car. A total POS, but ah..... the memories.
Second: 89 Honda Prelude. Not a fast car, but quick and nimble as hell. A car I knew well and could throw it at any curve out there.

Favorite non-Pontiac was a 1967 Mustang GT fastback with a 289 and a four speed that I had after high school.
Favorite Pontiac was a 65 GTO four speed car I had in high school, Palmetto Green with black interior. Not the best Pontiac I have had, but I had a blast in it. |

I live in Wisconsin, born and raised in Milwaukee. All of my high school friends had cars from the BIG 3 ( GM,Ford,& Mopor ) my High School sweetheart had a 64 Rambler 770 Classic with a 287 2 barrel. It was only fitting for me to run with the AMC's. I had some neat NOS parts in my day like a NOS Cross Ram intake and a set of 444 gears still in the AMC box with the rear end fluid. I will get a 71 SC 360 Hornet one of these days. |

Meeting Poncho-Mike
I met Poncho-Mike by stopping in Midland and trying to buy the '64 Dual Quad Riviera that was sitting in his backyard. He didn't sell the car, but I got a kind friend who gave me some good insight into Pontiacs. This was probably around 1984. I remember that two buddies and myself helped him pull the engine out of a 71 T/A he was parting out. My first time to see an engine come out.
My favorite car was a 1971 4speed GTO. I bought it and a numbers matching 1971 GTO, the pair from the same fellow, for the high price of 1,200 for both in 1988. I think one hood would cost 1,200 now. '71 GTO's are my favorites. Hunter

My favorite car was my high school car.
71 GTO 4 speed posi no console beast. Then I loved my 71 GTO 4 speed 455ho. Now, I really like my current 71 Judge. It's a m22 posi, hood tach, formula wheel, 8 track car.

When I was 26... had a '76 Trans Am that I paid $800 for..... It would fishtail through 3-1/2 gears on dry pavement... Lost it one night on wet pavement when I hit 3rd going around a slight curve....totaled it..... I kinda have a soft spot for those too

My 1971 Mustang of course. Was my first car when I was 15. Was a pile of junk too. Now that I'm 28 and it's been finished for several years, I drive the wheels off everyday. 429 and a 5 speed, vroom vroom.

1) 62 GP 425a, 4 speed. I purchased it from a teacher in Youngstown, Ohio back in 69. Only had 50k and was mint. 2) Red 67 Ram Air GTO. Drove that one from Ohio all the way to Florida with 4.33 gears. 3) 66 Nova l-79. Miss them all!

Fun thread. It is like deciding which is your favorite child. In fact, I love so many different cars and I'm such a car nut that when non-car folk ask me "what's your favorite car of all time?" I tell them there's just too many great cars for me to choose one (although a Shelby Cobra might be it).
But my favorite car that I enjoy driving might just be my current car...... not my Pontiac... Don't kick me off the board for saying this, but my `11 328i Msport 6 speed manual is just such a gosh-darned good car that I love driving every minute I'm in it! Silky smooth, non-turbo straight six, light and linear hydraulic clutch, steering so precise it's like a laser, all this and good looks to boot. I just love driving it. Then I get home, open the garage, pull back the cover and fire up LeGTO for some old school torque rumbling in a V8 that can't be matched. Stomp on the gas as I let off the old clutch, cruise down the street as everyone, and I mean EVERYONE from guys, gals, kids and grandmas gives thumbs up, smiles, stares and all kinds of kudos... Yup, I love all my kids the same, just different. They're all my favorite. (But I do look forward to getting into the Bimmer every time I walk up to it.)

my favorite
I really loved my 65 Malibu SS with the L79 350 horse small block and a 4:56 posi. I shifted at 6500 and gave the big block musclecars all they could handle. This was back in the late sixties.
When my son was born I had to sell it to pay for the hospital bill. My health insurance required that we be enrolled for at least 9 months before maternity costs were paid. I always look for L79 Malibus at shows and cruise-ins. regards

One of my favourites was a 66 Mercury 2 door Park Lane. I was a rust free time capsule car that had been stored for half its 56k miles life and was as it left the factory. Sporting a 410, C6 and 9 inch, it wafted along like it was on a cloud. I wanted to keep it but being nearly 18' long, it wouldn't fit in my garage so I had to store it in a shed. Unfortunately rats found it and started on the hood insulation and rather than risk further damage I made the decision to sell it. It was a lovely car and I wish I could have kept it.
