David, I'd tend to think it was the removal of the polyps that caused the cramping. Even though it doesn't seem like it, it is surgery, and all surgery is an insult to the body and pain and other symptoms can be expected.

And frankly, this thread is beginning to piss me off. Am I the only person in the world who underwent both a colonoscopy and a prostate biopsy without sedation?!

That very well could be Bob.

BTW, did they at least give you a piece of leather to bite?

Had a colonoscopy about 5 years ago due to lots of blood in the stool. Diagnosis was internal hemmorhoids, Dr worked on some while there. Also diverticulosis and no polyps. Later I had more trouble and actually had hemmorhoid surgery which helped for about a year. Now I am bleeding again but it seems different. I am going to the Doc the 25th of this month and I am going to set up an appt for another scope...

I also have this deal where the end of my nose gets real tender like it has a deep pimple but there is none there. Going to check on skin cancer as my dad has been plagued with those as long as I can remember...

Good Thread!

The Barium swallow this morning was great if you enjoy drinking mint flavored plaster of paris. Looking forward to my double scope next week - I thought of asking the nurse the obvious question but decided instead to say "I'm sure you've heard all the jokes" to which she warmly agreed!

When will they have something you just swallow and retrieve then drop off at the photomart?

I kid, but suspect this will happen before long.

A friend had a "virtual" colonoscopy in Austria recently. I heard its not as thorugh (yet) especially in nooks and crannies, or with an un-clean patient.

Link here;

http://digestive.niddk.nih.gov/DDISE...alcolonoscopy/

There is also a blood test out by Quest Dx that detects markers...though it has a lower sensitivity vrs. the "gold standard" of a traditional colonoscopy, but for a "certain group" who have problems with the scope.

DUKE is doing these in this area, local news recently.

https://www.questdiagnostics.com/hom...ovantage/about

Better than nothing for a certain group, and they say;

ColoVantage® is a convenient blood test that aids in the detection of colorectal cancer in patients non-adherent to current testing approaches

While in the military, I went in for my monthly migrane checkup. They had a new doctor, he told me to bend over, he said “I like to do rectal exams a little early”. I was thinking, for a headache!!!! Well he found blood in my stool. A colonoscopy revealed pre cancerous polyps, but they had caught them in time. I was 46. I would have never known if it wasn’t for him. I am 54 now and am on the three year plan, but the last checkup I was polyp free. I thank God every day for that Doctor doing what he did. He may have saved my life, or at least made it better. I heard later on I was not the only one. Don’t play around get checked out.

All good down there Steve, don't have to go back for another 10 years.

Turns out however I have Dysphagia (trouble swallowing) due to acid reflux which has caused scarring & the formation of a Schatzki ring in the lower third of my esophagus - no surprise here, my Father has battled this for years. They did a biopsy & a balloon dilator to open things up. I'll be meeting with the doctor next week to discuss medications & to research possible food allergies. A real small issue considering what everyone else here has dealt with & a very good thing it was discovered 20 years before the age my Father's was diagnosed. Thanks guys!

Who's next in the chair???
