Hey Gary, I am one of the bidders on ebay..just a note..please let me know what the highest sincere offer you receive that you will consider... I've talked with the guys that looked at the car..I wish you had better picts of the troubled areas and could have backed up the car to get picts of the pass. side..here's a pict. of one of those rare 1971 4 speed cars that I did a few years ago,one owner with all original docs including original window sticker ect.. lucerne blue, ivory interior.. very highly optioned e.g. a/c, power windows, am/fm stereo radio, gauges& tach,c/s steering wheel, posi ect.... I ended up selling it to a collector in Tennessee. As all the cars I do it is essentially a new car when I'm done ( rotiss/frame off) and I do ALL the work and don't farm out anything except the machine work on the engine.... I'm in Athens Ga. Here's my email forrestfulton3@msn.com

Wow...nice bidding on that car! I bid but just couldn't go that high! The one I restored and showed the picts of above, I bought about 5-6 years ago for around 16,000. on ebay also and it was a running/driving car (the original owner since new still drove it!) all original drive train ect. too.. although it probably had more rust issues than yours. Someone really wanted your car or should I say 2 people really wanted it! If for whatever reason the sell flounders for some reason, you have my email...good luck and congrats! Forrest

some deep pockets.....I wonder if they looked at the car in person.
Deals can be made but its only complete when the $$$ changes hands.

Maybe the buyer was the guy from Texas that saw the car?

could be.......but I wouldn't bet too much on it! I think he would have bought it then & bypass ebay fees.
When was he to see the car? I think that was for this W/E coming. Post was on 19th & he said next weekend.

Default '71 GTO

Thanks to all that were interested in my Rare GTO. Money DID change hands last weekend. I sold it to a man who be restoring the car with his son vs. a "restorer" whose intent would be to make a profit.....regards to all.

I am glad it is going to a father/son and hopefully restored to stock condition. But, its their car and their money now....

I think that 71 4 speed vert could bring 50K plus someday in restored condition which leaves a little room for the DIYer.

I am a little baffled..is there something wrong with restoring a car correctly to a brand new original condition and then selling it to a collector or individual (father and son? ) for a profit? Is working VERY hard and investing money into parts ect. for a goal to make a profit a bad thing? Lots of "father son" projects get "shelved" because they find that the cost is more than they expected or lose interest ect.. and end up selling it (in pieces at times) to someone else..and the car gets passed on and on, or finish the car at a low budget and with no experience and have a car that is a long shot of being correct and at best end up a "driver" and probably sell it eventually for a "small profit" or even a loss because it was done incorrectly and corners were cut. At least with a known "restorer" you know it will be done correctly and get finished and be in showroom condition exactly as it was when new..sorry I just had to express my thoughts...I sincerely hope it gets done and done right! Thanx for updating us...
