I doubt anyone has heard of “them”. After reading is story on the website he is a one man business part time at home in the evenings after his day job. He may build a decent trans but you need to see what parts and mods he is doing to get to his horsepower ratings. Give him a call and let us know.

I’m pretty sure he is looking for a deal and maybe it really isn’t when you buy the parts.
This is from the website:

“My prices are much lower than other shops because I have very low overhead expenses. I am a one man shop, and I charge only for my labor.”

Add in all the goodies and you may as well go to CK.

yeah i saw the one man shop thing.. but my th350 i currently have is leaking a bit and at a minimum i would need to freshen it up and if im pulling it to do that would rather make it right.. etc.. you sat "CK" who is that web address if you have it would be helpful.. also im on a low budget for this.. i spent all my coin on the car it self and a 461 engine build. rotating assemble from butler.

thanks
chris

Geez, for $600 I'd try him for a TH350 or TH400.
To me that is peanuts.

If anyone seeks an inexpensive converter guy with a great reputation.

I would suggest to call and speak with him for your application, would not order online.

that was kind of my thoughts as well.. but i sure would be disappointed if it failed in a short time.. the one benefit going with this guy is i could pick it up its about 2-3 hours drive.. but doable to save some $$$. i would however have to add $200 because i wouldnt give up my core because its original numbers matching to my car.. and would want to keep it in storage. so were now looking like $800 + drive there and back and tolls gas etc.. realistically all in $900 or a little over. on the other hand in was thinking save a few buck more and try to go with this... for $1300 and pretty much not have to worry about it.. its a bit steep but if i can swing it i might go this route.

I don't know if he still does work but there is
Jim Hostler, I think his username here - HOSGTO
Don't know if this is still good info - Delaware 302-220-7363
He built transmissions for a few fast Pontiac's.

DUH!! LOL trying to hand out candy to the kids in between

The higher hp transmission is rebuilt with new bushing, gaskets, seals, filter, and adjustable modulator. I use five Raybestos clutches in the low/forward/direct drums, and I install 3 clutches in the intermediate. I install a Kevlar HD band, and a hardened intermediate sprag race. I also install a wide low/reverse sprag. This combination will hold up to 700ft lb torque. The 36 element sprag is only necessary when you are at a 800 hp level. The cost is $600.

completely disassemble, clean, inspect, rebuild, and upgrade the transmission to handle your performance needs. I also warranty my transmissions for 6 months regardless of the application or mileage. The transmission I build for you will last longer, and shift better than the franchise shop or assembly line built transmission because of my attention to detail. I measure all clutch pack clearances, enlarge fluid circuits, replace weak OEM internal parts, and build in my own shift improvement modifications. I only use high quality parts (see below) in my rebuild process to insure firm tire chirping shifts, durability, AND LOWER ET's.

Also a quick update on this transmission. I did have built. And been running it for the last year and change. I love it. Feels great. Awesome positive shift. Would recommend to anyone looking for budget transmission. Have it behind my 461. 3.08 gears

CK Performance made me a 2.75 first gear set for my Turbo 400 that was a work of art and it even worked lol.. I wouldn't hesitate buying a transmission form them.. But locally I have the Transmission Magician, they build excellent transmissions..

I bought one from KellinPerformanceTrans and sad to say my tranny didn't work then wouldnt honor his warranty and I got ripped. A professional transmission shop local to me thinks he uses salvaged parts from other junk transmissions mixed with some new parts for his rebuilds and hopes they work. I was told Kellin only delivers so people don't see his shop is really just a junk transmission collection and not a real working transmission shop. Buy your tranny elswhere or plan on spending double whatever he quotes you.

Jim Hossler is the ticket - he built my trans and several others I now about - does exceptional work at reasonable price.
