Default Spectra Fuel Tanks vs. Dorman

I need a new fuel tank (non-EECS) for my 70 gto resto and am trying to buy locally (i.e. Advance, Auto Zone, etc) to avoid $90+ shipping costs.

I see that Auto Zone sells the Spectra Premium Fuel Tank GM34D for $150 and I can get the Dorman from Advance for $144.

I've heard more about the Spectra being decent, but nothing really about the Dorman. Experiences?? Opinions?? Also interesting is that both have the same dimensions listed, but the Dorman says 17 gal vs. Spectra 20 gal...typo?

Keep in mind that the car will likely never see rain, so leaning away from a stainless tank.

The Spectra tank in my Trans Am is excellent.

The Dorman dust caps we have to use in our kits are sub-par as far as dimensional tolerance.

The 17 gallon tank has the vapor dome on top for the 71-72 (70 CA) EEC vehicles.
Which tells me Dorman probably uses the same tank for all 68-72 rather than having two tanks in inventory.

So...just to compound the issue.

Looks like the exisiting tank in my 70 GTO is a 2 vent (see pic of rear vent tube below). Not sure if the tank is original, so wondering if a 2 vent is the original tank/configuration and I need the Spectra GM34A (which of course comes without the filler neck and is $40 more)? Did some GTO models in 70 come with a 1 vent? Is a 2 vent necessary?

I'm more concerned with Ethanol content, that is corrosive.
Might be a long term consideration? Just thinking out loud.

I see 1 vent, 1 supply and 1 return....?

I have two spectra tanks and no issues whatsoever over 10 or so years.

I had to customize a tank for my application and here are some photos from Spectra with a little identification that may be helpful. Quality and support were very good. The inside of the tank also looked very clean and I am not worried about any internal or external corrosion

on my 70 I used a Nova tank, removed the GTO filler neck and soldered it in. It is slightly narrower, but 3" shorter so I could fit a watts link on the rear end.

Yep...I got ahead of myself and was assuming the 2 vent meant the rear vent and the filler neck. The online pics were not easy to see the rear vent on the GM34D and thought perhaps they meant the 1 vent was the filler neck (stupid assumption).

Crisis averted...GM34D it is.

Supply for the fuel pump will come from the sending unit! not the tank barbs for hoses. They are vent or return. Please check your sending unit first. Also if needed for gauge reading or anything else easiest time to change....

Default Fuel tank on 70 GTO

On my 70 I had a vent nipple on passenger side with a hose that went straight up cradled by a circular mount that said hose went thru. The other vent is on the drivers side of the filler neck. On these you use a non vented cap. The tubes from the center are for fuel pump supply and return.
