Pictures of the '71 Bonneville and '72 Lemans (GTO) wagon towing the T-37 and Judge to the Memphis Supercar Showdown in 1990 (31 years ago!!!). The Bonneville has the 325 hp 455 4-bbl and the Lemans wagon a real transplanted '72 455HO and 3.07 12-bolt rearend. Both were terrific haulers and used equalizing hitches. We towed all over the Midwest with them back then.

I currently own a 1970 (over 30 years), and had a 1984 K/5. I never experienced any issues with either putting over a 100k miles between them. I towed extensively with the 1984. Bottom line- You can't drive them like a car. If you know what you're dealing with, you'll be fine.

I suppose I could sell/trade my Camry and go newer, but would need to be <$40K. Not sure if a there are any full size base model V8s or mid-size big V6s that could fit the bill?

What about those F150 Ecoboost V6s that supposedly can tow a bunch?

I have the "little" 2.7 Ecoboost. It has good torque and makes it at a very low rpm.
Good luck finding any later model pickup of any brand for decent money.
