Default Vacuum Gauge Install

I am in the process of redoing my 65 4 speed console. I want to install the vacuum gauge but connot find where it was actually located. Was it located directly above the square hole in the base that the wiring harness for the light goes through? Or does it go farther bach towards the dash? Thanks for any help.
