lares steering coupler
I bought a Lares steering coupler part number 202 for my 67 gto. It seems way to tight to fit over the spline. I'm worried about ruining the spline by trying to force it on. Any recommendations ?
Thanks in advance |

Does the couplers spline area have a good lead in taper / chamfer on it?
Do you have a dial caliper to compare sizes?

Same spline count? I just used one and I had no problem putting it on. I did lube the splines with STP 1st.

Remove any paint you may have on the gear box splines.

IIRC, I ran into this also. See if you can try a 201. I think the 202 is 3/4 and the 201 is 13/16.
The 202 was supposed to fit but didn’t. You can try there website but it’s not very good. ETA http://catalog.larescorp.com/select/...20326CID%20V8/ Good luck! Murf |

You shouldn't have to force it on, so if it won't go on without a struggle, you may have an incompatible part.

Thanks folks.
Yeah the chamfer is good. The spline is clean. And the correct spline count. I will try the 13/16 that seems like it would be the answer. I will update when I try it. |

We just installed a new Lares steering box with their new coupler just last weekend. It did take just a little spreading with a screwdriver between the flange bolt holes to let it slip over the splines.
