Control Arm Bushing Replacement
I am replacing the rear control arm bushings on a 67 GTO. The old bushings I removed had a rubber spacer ring on the outside of the control arm opposite the flange side around the end of the bushing. The new stock bushings I bought from In Line Tube do not include the rubber spacer ring. Should I reuse the the old spacer rings?

Short answer, NO.
I never have seen that on my 67, even back in Sept 67 when I bought it. Going to this again next weekend for the third time. Getting rid of the damned Polyurethane SQEAKING crap! |

Stock rubber bushings don't slide around and therefore don't need the cheater donut that is included with the poly bushings.
That said, I've got three cars with the poly bushings and no noise from any of them. We did really goop them up with the sticky silicone grease when we first installed them.

Yep, not all poly bushings are created equal. I've had poly suspension bushings in by BMW for many years and they have never squeaked. The UMI stage 3 suspension kit in my GTO uses a mix of poly, delrin, and spherical bushings and they all have grease fittings so I don't expect any noise issues with them once the car is back on the road.
