To bad you don't want caltracs . The best riding and hooking and corning and height adjustment spring and shock assembly you can buy. Just installed them and it took 2 times to get the height right but that is just replacing the back have . There great and I can't say enough except that I should of did it sooner.

I have been contemplating going to a caltrac setup, just a money issue.

Spend the MONEY it is the BEST MONEY SPENT !!!!!!!!! Even with the upper arm stops out and the upper arm bushing shafts lose and 90-10 and no sway bar the car handles like a dream the back doesn't move . It use to lay over and on the other side it would hit the stop on a 45 mph corner , not any more and let me tell you I can't wait till next week to see my 60 fts. SO SPEND THE MONEY AND DON"T LOOK BACK !!!!!!!!!!!

Here is my car from last year. I like it sitting like this because it is how I remembered the car from back at Detroit Dragway during the late 80's. I am running ET drags on Weld wheels. Wheels ar 15x8, tires are 29.5x10.5x15. they actually measure 31" when inflated. I'm running 4.75 backspacing. and had to trim the inside lips to get the slick to clear enough to drive on the street. jOHN

P.S. Please don't laugh at my ET on thr window. I got to Norwalk at 6;00 pm on Saturday, did'nt get to run till Sunday, flung my alt/water pump belt first run, left the line in second gear because I did my burnout in 2nd to not blow my TH400, and forgot to shift into first .We only got 1 run on sunday, then eliminations. So I had to put an ET on the window, and broke out first round. Still had a ton of fun though!!

pinballDan,
Does your car have mono or multi spring perches?

Car looks great! I don't think I could fit a 10.5" tire under my car, it is mini-tubbed, how did you fit the tire? I'm going with the 29.5/9.0/15 Stiff ET Drag this year. I know it will require some quarter lip trimming. JD

The hoosiers i was running in the above pics were 29.5x11-15's i think on a 15x8.5 and 3 3/8?BS, hence it being jacked so much. I only have about 1/2-3/4'' of squat before my extended stops hit the axle tubes.

I run 29X9X15 hoosiers on 8" rim. They fit ok, slight rubbing on the return road. Pics before I painted the car

Biltit,
it's 5.5 BS. I looked into running caltracks but I have multi leafs perches like you do. I dont know, maybe one day I will try to install mono perches. I dont trust my local shops. From what I seen here in LA unless you let shop to do complete install, they will do chit work and blame it on your installation or something not right with the car. I heard some bad stories.

The caltrac split leafs are a bolt in deal, if you currently run multi's, you'll need to have an al. spacer made. Not a big deal.

I have a multi leaf rear axle . They sold me a spacer kit for the mono and you weld the top spacer to the housing than put the lower in under the spring . IT works great and they are only $ 20.00 . Can't wait till Saturday ,weather looks good and the track even has a swap meet what a bonus . hope to see 1.50-1.55 60 with the new m&h radials . Than I'm putting on the slicks and we will compare 60 fts . hope for a 10.99 at 120-124 mph .

71 Ventura II,
The shocks are moved to the inside of the frame rails. They are actually Dodbe truck shocks. I also had to add a shackle on drivers side. Not sure why, but car always leaned to the left. that leveled it out. Was afraid of it launching funny, but no problems sofar. Slick just clears inside frame rail and wheel housing. If you look at my avatar, you can see car from rear. I'll try to post a better picture of the back.

M&H Drag Radials or Radial Slick?

I am interested in your findings as well.

I went to pontiacs in the park and lost mph and time each run . I was thinking it was the air and than I had a slick go flat and put my street M&H Radials on and the 60 ft was the same about 2 in of daylight under the front tire 60 ft the same just could not figure it out why the car was so slow . I was coming up the return road and stopped and got my ticked and the car started in high ,that was strange it has an auto valve body and then it would not up shift . Took the trans out and found everything from the center support back destroyed . so I just got the trans back and I'm waiting for the continental converter than I will let you know.
