Default is this a original 71 firebird part or a handy man special

took this out of the 71 parts car . is this a good handy man fix

Looks original but someone modified the speaker openings. Dual rear speakers weren't available until 1978.

did gm use the wood like you see in the photo

not original, that looks like a piece of wall paneling. original were a pressed cardboard type material. you can but repros for very cheap & you cut out the speaker holes you need.

thats what i thought gm would never use wall paneling

nope. the repro package trays look nice & fit great & are cheap.

some are very close... my 78 carmine red package tray was pretty close. & black for my 72 was... black.

but you will never perfectly match original 40-45+ year old faded colors with aftermarket parts or paints. even when new many parts in these interiors didnt match perfectly.
