Default 1967 Firebird option codes.

I friend is looking at a clean original California Firebird sprint, he has the build sheet and has decoded all but 2 option codes on it/

616 & 777

I think that 616 is the code for California emissions (A.I.R.) but I don't have a clue to what 777 indicates?

I don't have either of those codes but the codes around 616 are all suspension related. Could it be related to those traction bar type things on 67 birds that varied by engine?
Similarly I can't find a 777 but all the codes around there are export related and/or delete codes (seat belts, heater etc)

777 is a 4speed transmission for the 6 cyl engine.
(why I never knew it, don't have any experience with the 6 cylinder Birds)

ZR was the engine code for the 6 cylinder

Do you know who the dealer was for it?
(my info needs verification)

Yeah - that's going to generate the questions, but no answers.

I'm referring to a '67 build sheet from Pontiac Michigan, because the option codes are the same within a given model year regardless of the final assembly location.

Within box 61 the options are:
1 - ENG. CNTR. C.S.
2 - A.I EXH. CTRL.
4 - POS. CRKCS VENT.
8 - RADIO DELETE

Option 612 is Air Injector Exhaust Control aka RPO K19 in the UPC system (mandatory in California)
Option 614 is Positive Crankcase Ventilation and is included with 612.

This vehicle has both options 612 and 614; the "2" and the "4" total so that a "6" is reported in box 61 (ie, "616").

I agree that Box 77 is manual transmission information, as option "778" is the M21 close ratio trans, but "777" does not appear in my GTO literature (which makes sense if it is specific to 6 cylinder offerings).

That makes sense guys thanks, as the OHC-6 cars only had Saginaw 4-speeds installed in them at the factory for 1967 the different code makes sense.

Thanks for the help!

Now I am curious if Fred Simmonds if his Non Sprint 67 4-door Lemans with a 4-speed has 777 for a code. His car has the (1967 only) option of the 4bbl OHC-6 without the sprint package, but with a 4-speed manual.

I will have to ask Him.

I thought the 4bbl made it a 'Sprint'?
I don't show any 4 speed for the 6 cyls except the '7' tranny and it says Sprint only. They had 3 speed manuals plus a 3 speed manual for Sprint only also. ('3' code)

John in 67 only you could order the 4bbl OHC-6 as a seperate option without all the other Sprint parts. I know of 3 cars ordered that way, Freds 67 Lemans 4-door & 2 Tempest wagons. It was the only year you could get the 4bbl OHC-6 in a wagon.
I beleive it was called a HO option. You could not order it that way in 1966 or 68-69.

I will have to give Fred a call to see how his car was ordered
