'64 GTO Door Mirror Mounting Holes (pix needed)
Looking for a couple of pix showing the mounting holes for the standard, non-remote Side View Mirror on the LH Door.
Thanks!

Here's a picture of my '64. Drill two 1/8" holes exactly 4 3/16" and 6 3/16" back from the front edge of the door and exactly 1" below the ridge where the beltline molding ends.

Not to step on Dick's toes, but here is a picture of a factory template for left and right installation of the standard mirror.

I know the topic of SV Mirror- LH has been brought up here a few times.
From my pix collection over the past 30+ years, I see at least 3 locations... 1) Very close to the front edge of the Door 2) Next to the Vent Window 3) Rear of the Vent Window Either there were variations from the different Assembly Plants or, the Dealer-accessory template was different than factory installed (can't imagine why). Bob, thanks for sharing the template! (the one you provided for the Power Antenna was right on as compared to (2) original set-ups I checked). Good info!

My wife's '64 GTO outside mirror is located differently than mine. Her car was built in Pontiac, mine in Kansas City. The front hole on my wife's car is 3 3/8" from the front edge of the door, the rear one 5 3/8". The height is 1 1/4" below the ridge at the beltline trim.
Does it seem reasonable that most of these mirrors were installed by dealers? Either that is the case or each factory, Pontiac and Kansas City, had different templates.

As mentioned before, if dealer installed i,m sure they had you sit in the car and asked where would you like it mounted. Years ago at a show i measured every 64 mirror location and not one was the same.
