Rebuilt 400
I am redoing my 1971 Trans Am & selling off several items. Engine for sale will be a running pull out so comes 100% complete from carb to pan with the following specs:
Rebuilt Qjet carb Edelbrock Performer aluminum intake on it now (for the 71 look) but I have a stock steel 1970 intake if you want that for an extra $100 5C-7 heads - 2.11/1.66 valves 100cc milled .010" to remain flat & bump CR to ~8.3 with the thin head gaskets. You could easily mill it to bump CR higher but I decided to keep it super pump gas friendly down here for the FL heat. (take another .020" off so .030" in total = a very nice 8.75+ CR for a nice hp bump or you mill them & the intake more to get up to 9.0+ CR for additional performance!) This was built as is to be safe & reliable off any pump gas & octane! Comp Cams 1.5 ratio SS magnum roller rockers Comp Cams Valve springs to match cam specs Comp Cams pushrods Comp Cams custom grind cam: duration @ .050 is 228/231 .474"/.480" lift 114+6 LSA (I have the cam card still. Block is a low mile 197X 400, (dont remember off hand the year but will update ad), it is the thick web version & completely deburred. Bore was perfect & needed nothing but a light hone. Stock Pontiac rods Cast Pistons ARP rod & main bolts Stock Pontiac steel crank Neoprene rear main seal - NOT THE ROPE CRAP THAT LEAKS!!! New Bearings are all Clevite 77 New Colyes timing chain New RAIV oil pump New stock valley pan, windage tray & oil pan HEI distributor Headman Fbody Headers High torque mini starter Videos of it running are here: https://youtu.be/kFE_yoqn5jE https://youtu.be/TX3MLjBZiJU Estimated upper three hundred horsepower area (365hp - 375ish) & over four hundred torque (405tq - 410ish). It was not built as a race engine or high hp / radical cam / no vacuum / undrivable monster. It was built to be a solid, SAFE, street engine good for cruising or the occasional 1/4 mile blast. We have put about 1500 miles on it & she runs like a champ. It blows the tires off in 1st, spins it in 2nd & chirps them in 3rd all with a 3.08 rear too! I will sell it for $2750 OBO complete & shipped to any Fastenal store in the US. Depending on pallet / shipping situation I may just include the engine stand it will be moved with. If you are local to the Tampa FL area or can arrange pickup & have cash I will work with you on the price. You can still have the engine stand too :-) If you know what it cost to build a high performance Pontiac V8 I think you will find value in this engine combo. Additional parts for sale off my TA will be the tranny, interior, Hotchkis suspension, global west control arms & honeycomb wheels with tires.
