Baron, the carb box was a XT. Please PM me with information on your YA car (plant of manufacture, trim tag info, EUN, etc.) as I've not seen a YA so late. Thanks.

Will do Ransom. I sent PM with link to it's PHS posted on another thread here. Will be maybe a week before I get back at Car. I'll get date codes, EUN, trim tag info and such. It may have been cast before the time frame break. Idunno.

Wish I could help you guys, but there is so little on these cars. Sucks.

Yeah, YC is most definitely NOT a Judge-only engine. I have never owned a Judge, but do own three 1970 455 cars, all with YC engines. None with Ram Air, one convertible, two 7040268 carbs, and one Califorinia-emissions with the 7040568.

And, I'm kinda bummed that I never saw this car. I grew up near Monroeville, PA, and walked the Cochran Pontiac lot many times, checking out what they had. Of course, this was more like 1982-83, not 1970. Still, if that car was in McKeesport, it' was just a few more miles down the road.
If only I had known about it... |

Small update - checked carb plant/pick codes on some automatic carbs for 455 federal, federal Ram Air, 455 Cali, and Cali Ram Air - none of those correspond to the Judges plant/pick code. 3 out of 4 are presently on eBay, and we already know the 4th one by heart.
Gonna call Cave tonight and see if he has any viewings arranged for Saturday or Sunday I can join in on. TJH, do you know mrgoats, he is the 70 455 GTO MAN ! You sound like the same kind of guy too. The build sheets I posted in this thread were from mrgoats 70 455 HO Ram Air Automatic Convertible, it's loaded. It's about 90% finished with an in-depthly detailed frame off professional resto. He ought to be having BIG fun this Summer, maybe even by Spring. The resto shop has a web documentary of progress. I like the 70 455 GTO's and would love to have a 70 455 Judge. |

Baron- No, I don't know mrgoats. However, between the two of us, it sounds like we have a major percentage of the overall 1970 455 HO engine production...
(just as spares, I also have a complete XF-coded 455HO, a YA, and another YC. I'm tripping over 4-bolt-main 455's around here...). |

I was really torn about which "cave "car to buy. I bought the 67 corvette. I know,I know........it isn't a ponch but I was only going to spend large if it was all the gto I wanted. I dislike automatic trans and don't care for a/c. Am I kicking myself now???? Not really. I don't add to my collection for possible resale later. The other car I wanted was the 70 GSX or the ramiv convert that my buddy owned 20 years ago. I'm glad I got one of them. |

I felt the price was fair and didn't negotiate.
wish I got the gsx too! it was so original! no where near as nice as the 70 judge but still a solid car! |

Adrians old car needs a full resto. Its exactly as it was 20 years ago. tucked away in the corner with a decaying orange paint job. |
