What percentage of your '69 GTO convertibles have hideaways? (judges and non-judges)

Take rates on hideaways:
41% GTO overall
36% Judge verts (obviously low sampling)
23% Judge hardtops
52% non judge convertibles
52% non Judge hardtops

I would of thought that convertibles would have been higher than hardtops since they would be higher optioned but I just found the following:
average number of options (includes Judge option in Judges);

Judges (hardtops and verts were both the same average): 11 per car
non Judge verts: 13.5 per car
non Judge hardtops: 14.5 per car

scanning my spreadsheet I think I can see where the perception of ragtops having more options; hardtops have a wide variety of option loads with many strippers and many high option cars. On the other hand the convertibles seem to be much more medium option cars with less common extremes.

I know that e-bay Judge from 28 years ago, the original owner would not sell it and I chased it for 14 years and gave up. It still looks the same but has no motor now. There's allot of work there but worth it. I may still have the phone number and address.

The arguments on the olds board have to be some of the oddest statements ever written?
I believe some of them first need to take a simple business or math course. Collector value and appreciation (or depreciation) is real no matter what the product. Just because one refuses to accept it does not make it less real.

It costs very little more to restore a 69 Judge Conv’t then a 69 Tempest conv’t. Yet the end result is car worth 100K+ more. Why wouldn’t the initial project have also a huge increase in value?


Love the statement that another car may get cut up to restore the Judge???
They would probably flip at the pictures of me cutting up a 70 W30 to restore another. We even cut up the front fenders to patch the other cars quarters. (or should both had been crushed??)

The Olds contingent opining on that board remind me of the vast majority of Olds guys I've dealt with over the years. A good percentage of them were beyond cheap, & didn't appreciate the work it takes to do quality body work or the effort it takes to chase down & cull up the best straight rustfree sheetmetal.

Locally, its even worse, the typical Olds guy owns a '71-72 Cutlass that's either a driver "showcar" in desperate need of major mechanical work & having its bodywork redone...OR its one of the rolling abortions with 20" wheels & the thump-thump car stereo. Ive cut up a couple dozen '68-72 Cutlass partscars over the years & caught grief that I should have "restored" them. It's refreshing to meet a longtime Olds guy who is into W31's & W30's & not into contraption building.

Steve i wouldn't bother those folks, they seem real comfortable and content.
You go over there with that pic, and the fork loader pic, its going to turn into 64 more pages of hooting and hollering - and put an overload on the google-earth server.

Go into "user control panel" and from options find "attachments"
might take a while to sort through all yours - but pretty sure you were the original poster of the pic (?)
